One of them was only 16 years old and shouldn;t have even been there except he lied about his age. Some had already fouught through the 2 main battles and couldn't take it any more. Was it necessary to stop other soldiers desserting and win the war or was it out of order? Can you imagine the outcry if out troops in Iraq today shot any desserters after a quick trial. | |

| I think it's terrible - we're talking people as young as 17 aswell in some cases who are probably scared stiff and in world war one especially death was pretty inevitable in the trenches if you were next to go over the top... | |
