I'd reccomend you watch 'We are not alone'...a documentary by Michael franti (of the band 'Spearhead').

That film really puts things into perspective.

What we are doing there is wrong...thats about it.

No they don't 'have' to do it...just like they didnt 'have' to join the army.

I have never had the urge to take another life or risk losing mine...thats why i have never wanted to join the army.

Its a mugs game....those who create wars never fight them...they get the mugs to do it.

I have finally accepted the fact that no matter how we act, live, whatever, there will always be war until man finally does destroy himself.
As long as man walks this earth, has a pr*#k between his legs, wants what another has and is greedy about it, has the ability to hate...let alone annihilate, there will always be fighting.
These factors have been around since the beginning of time and I am afraid that, even though there are many peaceful and reasonable people, the rest are not willing to change. It's just getting worse everyday, and you can see it in the way people behave towards each other just in daily encounters on the streets.

Fook....now I am depressed.... *sighs*

To be honest the world does need wars if only to keep the popuation in check, just like we need disease and old age. Death is a part of life and sometime wars are justified. If only we could trust our leaders to tell the truth and fight only to defend freedom and against injustice instead of for greed and personal reasons.

No person on this planet has the right to take another persons life whatever the reason...I cannot find any justification for that.

Sometimes you have to stand up and fight, if WW1 an WW2 hadn't have happened we'd be living in a very different world right now.

I could never take a life either, but people who sign up to the military are signing away their life for duty, they know it could happen and they willingly join up. If they didn't we wouldn't be sitting here arguing about a war happening elsewhere we'd be probably been taken over by another country ourselves.

Until we don't feel the need to protect ourselves by having armies and nuclear weapons as a deterrent to invasion then it's always going to happen. Sitting cross legged at the borders waving peace signs isn't going to achieve anything.

Not true. You will need to read a little more about the history behind the BNP. I, for one, who was born, raised and educated in this country will be very unwelcome here if the BNP were to get into power.

huni i think what No fakes is saying is that the question was regarding the Afghan and Iraq situation, this thread is coming dangerously near a race issue....

i know people serving in Iraq at the moment too and its an awful feeling knowing they are in such grave danger every day of their lives. And although i accept that service personnel sign up knowing they can be sent to war at any time, it angers me as to the reasons for this war... (iraq specifically not Afghan)

is it really to rid the country of a tyrant and a dictator? or is it about oil...

put it this way if its the first reason, then why are we not in Zimbabwe ridding that country of its evil Tyrant???

answer? because there's no feckin oil there!!!!

and as for wars being one of the things needed to control rising population? easy to say if you dont have loved ones in the firing line......

Bring em all home. they sign up to fight for Queen and Country, not Mr Bush's need to avenge his fathers failings in 1993

rant over......... lol
